Mars Bar Rice Krispie Cake

I was never a huge fan of the whole Rice Krispie bar thing. Then I tried it when the krispies were molded together with melted Mars Bars and it was divine. But I'd never made it and always thought of it as just a throwing together of stuff, which it is, but the results are glorious. My sister wants some made for her son's christening this August so I said I'd make it first to see how it turned out. Again like the lasagne this was brought down my boyfriend's family for the pre-wedding week build-up. It was devoured.

You'll need........

8 (yes 8) Mars Bars
240g butter
300g Dairy Milk
400g Rice Krispies

You'll need to.......

Chop up all the Mars Bars and melt them with the butter in a glass bowl placed in a pot of boiling water. Keep stirring and stirring. The Mars Bars take ages to melt so get a fork and mash up the nougat bits.

Then, one cup at a time, pour in the Rice Krispies, until all the sauce is evenly distributed. And pour on to a lined and greased rectangular tray. Four this amount, you'll need a tray about 30cm long.

I used a rolling-pin to get the mix even on the tray and spread out properly and a spoon for the edges. This was a useful little thing to employ.

Next, the Rice Krispie mix needn't be cooled entirely, get the eating chocolate melted to pour over. Either in a very heavy-bottomed sauce pan or in a glass bowl over boiling water, melt the chocolate.

Enjoy the pouring.

And spread out with the back of a spoon.......

And voila............... slice them up into rectangular pieces....... and enjoy.

They're moreish - the only word that epitomises their essence completely.
